Seasonal Release | Guatemala Tinamit Coop
Tinamit is a coffee cooperative founded by Kaqchikel coffee growers in San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala, near the shores of Lake Atitlán. Established in 2016 and formally registered as a cooperative in 2018, Tinamit brings together 26 members who grow coffee at elevations of 1,500–2,000 meters above sea level. The cooperative focuses on specialty coffee production while promoting environmentally sustainable farming to preserve the region’s natural beauty. While washed coffee remains its primary offering, Tinamit has also been developing its natural and honey processing methods.
This naturally processed coffee is hand-harvested, with ripe cherries delivered to the cooperative’s processing center on the same day. After careful sorting and cleaning, the coffee is sun-dried on patios for 5–6 days before finishing on raised beds under shade. Frequent turning ensures even drying, while close attention to quality throughout processing helps produce a consistent, high-quality lot.
