Colombia La Argentina (Espresso)
Sourced from the renowned region of Huila, in Colombia, we are excited to present this new and exciting offering. La Argentina is the result of 28 independent producers around the town of San Agustín all working together to produce one coffee. Each farm is planted with a single variety that we don’t see too often: Tabi, a relatively recent hybrid that combines Typica and Bourbon, two of the most noble and best-tasting coffee varieties. After harvest, each producer processes their own coffee on site with their own micro-mill, which gives them a level of precise control over washing and drying that’s unusual for small producers. With the help of exporting company Mastercol, each harvest undergoes a meticulous evaluation for quality and flavor, which helps to ensure uniformity and consistency among the different farms’ output. Mastercol provides warehousing and other final preparation for export as well, all of which helps improve and sustain quality in the coffee as well as quality of life for the farmers and their families.
This espresso roast of La Argentina presents a bolder profile while still maintaining its juicy character. We find the brighter fruit notes of a lighter roast smoothing out into plum and caramel with more time in the roaster, making it perfect to enjoy as espresso, either with milk or without.
